This project aims to revitalize the charm of Osaka’s waterfront, known as the “Water Metropolis,” in preparation for EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Supported by its waterways, Osaka has developed as a central hub of economic and cultural activity. The project focuses on enhancing the city’s unique waterfront landscapes, particularly around the “Water Corridor,” where rivers encircle the city center. Initiatives include developing symbolic waterfront spaces and docking areas.
Additionally, they are collaborating with boat operators and local tourism promotion projects to leverage the unique appeal of Osaka’s waterways, including organizing the “Water Metropolis Osaka Week” (summer, fall, winter, and spring). Efforts are also underway to facilitate boat transport from the city center to the Expo site on Yumeshima during the Expo.
