Sushi Culture Table

Where tradition meets innovation — welcome to the sushi table.

“Sushi Culture Table” is a special table experience for inbound visitors to Japan that enables guests to encounter Japanese food culture and traditional craftsmanship through sushi. At our Osaka location there are many sushi restaurants, but this program not only allows guests to enjoy authentic omakase sushi prepared by a chef right before their eyes, it also invites them to participate in a hands‑on sushi‑making workshop. The experience is designed to engage all five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—so guests can truly feel “Japan.” Through encounters with aspects of Japanese culture that are difficult to experience elsewhere, Sushi Culture Table aims to become a place for cross‑border culinary communication.

Project Inauguration

While running a sushi restaurant in Osaka’s Kitashinchi district, many international customers expressed a desire to experience Japanese culture more deeply. In response, this hands‑on project was launched to convey the appeal of Japan through “making, eating, and feeling” sushi.

Project Activities

At Sushi 22 Kitashinchi in Kitashinchi, Osaka, events are held for inbound visitors offering sushi‑making experiences and introductions to Japanese food culture. Using seasonal ingredients, the program introduces sushi techniques, cultural background, and proper etiquette, continuing to communicate the depth of Japanese culinary tradition to guests from abroad.

Future Prospects for the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Leveraging the Expo as an opportunity, the project plans to expand programs that allow visitors to deeply experience Japanese food culture through sushi. By providing opportunities for interaction with sushi chefs and hands‑on experiences that foster “dialogue through food,” the initiative aims to create occasions that deepen understanding of and interest in Japanese culture among international visitors.
