In preparation for the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, which is expected to be known as the “SDGs Expo,” the Osaka Municipal Gender Equality Center Seibu-kan is holding the “SDGs LABO Wakamono Idea Contest.” This contest aims to enrich future society, including Goal 5 of the SDGs, “Realization of Gender Equality.
In addition, “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Online Relay Talk from Belgium to Osaka” will be held in conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8, and “Osaka Mimosa Light-up & Decoration” will be held from March 3 to 8. These events will promote women’s empowerment and networking, and showcase Osaka as a future city connected to the world.
With the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai just around the corner, the world’s attention is focused on Osaka. In order to create a more livable community, they will provide a forum for young people, who will lead the next generation, to share their ideas widely. In addition, to coincide with International Women’s Day, which is still under-recognized in Japan, a light-up and online relay talk will be held in collaboration with the public and private sectors to realize the goals of the Fifth Basic Plan for Gender Equality. Through these efforts, Osaka, a city of the future connected to the world, will be promoted in the run-up to the Expo.
Since FY2020, they have held the “SDGs LABO Wakamono Idea Contest” every year, and from 2023, they will hold an online relay talk on the theme of women’s activities on International Women’s Day, and collaborate with the Osaka Sakuyahime SDGs Study Group Team Machizukuri to plan the “Osaka Mimosa Light-up & Decoration”. They are also collaborating with the Osaka Sakuyahime SDGs Study Group Team Machizukuri to plan the “Osaka Mimosa Light-up & Decoration.”
The SDGs Wakamono Idea Contest will continue after the Expo, and CREO Osaka will support the ideas presented in the contest to realize them in society. In addition, after the Expo, CREO Osaka will continue to hold events to celebrate International Women’s Day by connecting overseas and Osaka online. By collaborating with the public and private sectors on International Women’s Day as designated by the United Nations, and by holding online relay talks with the people at facilities that light up various locations in Osaka City, we will promote Osaka as a future city connected to the world through the empowerment and networking of women in preparation for the Expo.
