Sakishima Children’s EXPO

Place: Suminoe Ward, Osaka City

Think SDGs: Smiling Faces Connect, Creating the Future

The Sakishima Children’s EXPO Executive Committee was launched in 2013 as a community revitalization project that brings together local businesses, schools, and government to nurture the imagination of children, the future leaders of the region, and support their challenges. The name was changed from “Sakishima Children’s Festa” to “Sakishima Children’s EXPO” in 2019.

Project Inauguration

The Sakishima Children’s Expo was launched in 2013 as a community event. Sakishima is home to companies and schools specializing in IT, robotics, design, sports, medicine, and music. With the aim of creating local attractions, these organizations and the government collaborated to launch the event with the theme of “providing a place where parents and children can learn while playing” for a memorable experience.

Project Activities

The event features workshops and activities that draw on Sakishima’s natural environment and culture, as well as content provided by companies and schools in a variety of fields. The event has become established as a hands-on event that helps children develop their creativity and take on the challenges of the future, providing a place for three generations to gather with smiles around ATC and the Osaka Sakishima Government Building. It also incorporates the SDGs, the theme of the Expo, to promote proposals for a better future, and is positioned as a project to build momentum for the Expo in 2024 under the theme “Challenges for the Future.

Future Prospects for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo

In preparation for the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, ATC will strive to serve as a place where children can proactively understand the SDGs through “play and learning” and support their challenges toward the future.
