Under the theme “A Co‑creative Forum for Building Osaka’s Future,” this academic event brings together experts from a wide range of industries to discuss the future of the web. Not limited to IT, the program invites specialists and university professors from many fields, offering attendees the opportunity to participate in academically rigorous sessions and gain broad insights. The event aims to give participants new perspectives and help the web industry grow with an open‑minded spirit.
In the long term, the goal is to expand the event across Osaka. Because Osaka has a uniquely warm, energetic atmosphere, attendees can directly experience an open‑minded environment and join in co‑creating the future.

The project started from questions about the state of the web industry observed while running a web production company. He (or the team) has long valued the web’s open culture—publishing program code for free, sharing information, and collaboratively creating better work for the benefit of others. In practice, however, business reality often involves hoarding talent and information, and there is a lack of development environments that openly incorporate consumer voices. This experience renewed our conviction about the importance of open environments and motivated efforts to promote that mindset.
More than 300 people have participated to date, and roughly 90% of attendees rated the event as valuable. High‑quality presentations by speakers have given participants exposure to diverse perspectives and served as a rare opportunity to learn how outsiders think, leading many to report deeper insights into the future of the IT industry.
The long‑term goal is to stage a variety of events across Osaka. Multiple thematic hubs will run simultaneously, offering networking opportunities in collaboration with nearby restaurants and shopping streets. This approach aims to create an innovation cycle that generates new business opportunities and co‑creation, contributing to Osaka’s overall revitalization.
Because OSAKA WEB SUMMIT is well aligned with EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the Expo represents an opportunity for international outreach. The plan is to develop collaborations with the Expo to help serve as a bridge connecting Osaka and the world.
