Project “nomonoco”

Place: Nishi Ward, Osaka City

Unlock your heart, body, self, and the world.

The Project “nomonoco” is an initiative to create the Panasonic Group Pavilion “The land of NOMO” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, together with children. Under the tagline “Unlock your nature,” the project aims to provide children of the alpha generation with an experience that frees them from common sense and assumptions and draws out their own hidden strengths. The project will incorporate the free ideas and opinions of children and reflect them in the design of the pavilion, the spatial presentation, and the content of the experience.

Project Inauguration

The Project “nomonoco” is a joint initiative launched by Panasonic Holdings Corporation and demoexpo, a general incorporated association. Fully launched in September 2024, the project aims to create a pavilion through co-creation with children even before the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai is held. This project was launched as an attempt to incorporate children’s free ideas and reflect them in various elements of the pavilion in order to realize the concept of the pavilion, “Unlock your nature.”

Project Activities

A wide range of workshops are being held, including upcycling using discarded materials, the creation of universal design tours, performance design using IoT lighting systems, and turning ideas into reality through hands-on making. Experimental workshops conducted in public spaces include initiatives like “Gacha! Unlock Explorers”, which investigates what opens people’s hearts, and “10-Minute Friends”, where participants share their unique traits and try to make a new friend within ten minutes.

Future Prospects for the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Even before the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, events and workshops have been held continuously, with plans also in place to display the names of all children involved in the project as credits within the pavilion. These efforts are designed to encourage active participation from children.

Through these activities, the project “nomonoco” aims to help children recognize their own potential and take the first step toward shaping their future. Even after the Expo ends, the project will continue to provide experiences that allow children to carry forward the insights and hopes they gained through the Expo and the project itself.
