Place: Osaka city
This project aims to maximize the appeal of the city’s night economy & culture by creating a “night pavilion” as a place where interesting people in Osaka/Kansai and people freed from their daytime titles can gather, so that those who enjoyed themselves at the Expo site during the day can go out and enjoy the city at night.
The Night Pavilion was planned with the aim of creating a mechanism for visitors to enjoy the afterglow of the Expo well into the night. Expos tend to focus on daytime events, and there have been issues with how to spend the evening hours. They wanted to prevent people from coming all the way to Osaka only to find that there was nothing to do at night. That is why we have prepared nighttime content in the city that can be enjoyed as an “extension” of the Expo, naturally extending the time visitors stay in the city, and connecting the excitement of the Expo to the nighttime.
The “Expo Sakaba Main Branch,” a base for venturing out into the streets of Osaka, will provide a real place for interaction between locals living in Osaka and tourists who came to Osaka as a result of the Expo.
The “Osaka Yorimon Zukan” will focus on “people” as Osaka’s tourism resource, and will provide a system that allows visitors to map and tour the interesting people they can meet in Osaka at night, starting from the EXPO bar main store. The system will be linked to various tourist resources such as snack bars, accommodations, and events to further maximize the attractiveness of Osaka at night.
Expos are a great opportunity for people of different nationalities and industries to gather together and make new encounters. The Night Pavilion will break down these boundaries and provide a place where people can naturally connect with each other.
As values diversify, cities around the world are increasingly incorporating the ideas of their citizens and creating new cultures. We hope to continue this program after the Expo and nurture Osaka’s nightlife into a driving force for the future.
