In conjunction with the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai to be held in 2025, the “Midosuji Satellite Plan” is scheduled to be implemented using Midosuji in cooperation with the Expo site in Yumeshima.
The Midosuji Satellite Plan is based on the concept of a new approach that will allow visitors to experience “the future from the road” and will feature a variety of exhibitions and events along Midosuji in cooperation with road cooperative groups (Midosuji Machizukuri Network, NPO Midosuji-Nagahori 21st Century Association, General Incorporated Association Minami Midosuji no Kai, Minami Machi Nurturing Network), and will hold a variety of exhibitions and events along Midosuji Boulevard.
Based on the “Midosuji Future Vision” formulated in 1991, the City of Osaka has been promoting the spatial reorganization of Midosuji from a car-centered to a people-centered street, and as a first step, the city is converting side streets into pedestrian spaces.
