A limited-time “Future Mobility Experience Theme Park” called “e METRO MOBILITY TOWN” will be established on the site of the former Morinomiya Vehicle Depot in Joto Ward, Osaka City. Scheduled to open in conjunction with the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the facility will feature four park areas expressing the urban MaaS concept “e METRO” and an outdoor food square. By providing an enjoyable and interactive learning experience about future transportation and lifestyles in Osaka, the park aims to allow many people to experience Osaka Metro’s vision of the city’s future mobility. Additionally, it seeks to boost excitement around the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai and contribute to the development and vibrancy of Osaka.
The purpose is to promote regional development and excitement leading up to the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai by establishing a “Future Mobility Experience Theme Park” where visitors can enjoy and learn about future transportation systems and lifestyles. Visitors can also experience various advanced technologies from Osaka Metro, centered around autonomous driving. The park will have a pre-opening on November 30, 2024, followed by a grand opening in mid-January 2025. It will also serve as a site for demonstration experiments, launching this project as a place to experience the urban MaaS envisioned by the company.
From Saturday, January 11 to Sunday, October 19, 2025, visitors can enjoy various attractions across five different areas!
(1) Future Experience Area
Featuring five booths reutilizing retired 20-series vehicles and the Future Station Booth, six attractions using videos and cutting-edge technology are available:
New World Theater (Approx. 5 minutes)
Inside the 20-series vehicle, a projection mapping using models and wall surfaces depicts the future city of Osaka and its people’s lives. It showcases lifestyles and mobility connections across ground level, sky, underground, and cyberspace.Virtual Time-Space Tour (Approx. 7 minutes each)
Videos are projected on the windows of the 20-series vehicle, providing a virtual experience of traveling through the city by mobility. The “History of Mobility” time traveler tour visualizes changes in mobility from the past to the 20XXs.Kids Train (For children) (Approx. 2 to 4 minutes)
Children color mobility-themed paper inside the 20-series vehicle, then scan it to project their drawings as videos. They can race with their original mobility or take commemorative photos at the AR photo spot. A popular gachapon corner is also available, making this a unique kids’ experience.
Note: A personal smartphone is required to use the AR photo spot.Collaboration Project Train Vol.1 – Future Arena Kids Disco (Approx. 5 minutes)
A limited-time event space inspired by a future arena where children can dance to rhythms and enjoy DJ play.

A dining and rest area using a retired 20-series vehicle on display, promoting Osaka Metro’s sustainable initiatives.Future Station (Approx. 1 minute 15 seconds)
Visitors scan their image on a monitor to generate an avatar, which is then placed in a metaverse simulation of life in “Future Osaka,” allowing a familiar feel for future lifestyles and station scenes. Three metaverse scenes are available, and one is displayed randomly per visit.(2) Outdoor Food Square
A relaxing space to enjoy meals, selling original food and drinks themed after Osaka Metro’s various lines.(3) EV & Autonomous Bus Area
Visitors can ride the latest autonomous buses and experience future transportation systems with comfortable and safe travel.(4) EV Kart Circuit Area
Experience authentic racing with environmentally friendly, low-noise EV karts.(5) Flying Car Area
Exhibits flight videos and parts of flying cars. Content will be updated periodically.
The company plans to exhibit in the Future City Zone of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai. This e METRO MOBILITY TOWN aims to provide content that helps visitors better visualize what will be conveyed at the company’s booth. Experiencing both the company’s booth at the Expo site and the e METRO MOBILITY TOWN will offer a clearer understanding of the company’s vision.
