ChargeSPOT operates on the concept of “pick up anywhere, return anywhere,” and is deployed across Osaka Metro’s 106 stations — including Yumeshima Station, the closest station to the Expo — as well as at various shops and facilities.
To help visitors and residents enjoy Osaka more comfortably, the project is expanding mobile charging infrastructure and promoting awareness of the service through campaigns.
With the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, smartphone use will be essential for cashless payments and other functions, making charging infrastructure more important than ever. A May 2025 INFORICH survey found that about 30% of attendees have experienced running out of battery, and more than half reported refraining from smartphone use because of charging concerns. By expanding recognition of ChargeSPOT, the goal is to create an environment where Expo visitors can enjoy the event without worry.
As the Expo attracts many domestic and international visitors and brings attention to the whole of Osaka, ensuring reliable charging for essential mobile devices has become an urgent issue. To eliminate anxiety about battery depletion and enable everyone to enjoy comfortable stays in Osaka, efforts are underway to further expand ChargeSPOT installations across Osaka Prefecture.
Plans call for further strengthening ChargeSPOT deployment around Yumeshima and at major facilities so that all Expo attendees — and tourists from Japan and abroad — can enjoy worry‑free stays in Osaka. The project will continue initiatives tied to tourism and local events to increase public awareness of ChargeSPOT as new infrastructure.
