Representative Director, General Incorporated Association Umeraku

YAMADA Mariko

  • CEO of ippo Inc.

She graduated from the Department of Piano, Faculty of Instrumental Music at Osaka College of Music. After working in a private company and serving as a manager in sales promotion and marketing, she left the corporate world after ten years.

Her experience with both childcare and eldercare, known as “double care,” during her time as a homemaker led her to recognize the importance of community and social connections. This realization inspired the launch of the local community initiative “Umeraku” in 2016, based in the Umekita and Nakatsu areas of Osaka.

She began working as a community welfare coordinator in 2019, contributing to regional welfare efforts and supporting community-led events such as “Nakatsu Expo.” After stepping down from that role in October 2023, she established ippo Inc., a company specializing in resilience.

The company provides a wide range of services, including support for the development of business continuity plans (BCP) for nursing care facilities, disaster preparedness drills, training program development, and organizing workshops in collaboration with developers to foster strong residential communities.

We anticipate that many people from overseas will visit Japan and the Kansai region during the Expo. To enhance the image of Japan as a safe and secure country, we will actively share information through events and websites, and ensure that content on social media is available in both Japanese and foreign languages to reach international audiences effectively. We also aim to continue these efforts beyond the Expo, using this project as a starting point. Through ongoing activities, we hope to introduce visitors to attractive towns and communities across the country where inspiring people live, and to support tourism promotion and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) attraction initiatives.
