Osaka Museum of History

OSAWA Kenichi

  • Director, Osaka Museum of History
  • Director of EXPO2025o Group, EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai Related Project Promotion Office, Administrative Agency for Osaka City Museums

He is from Iwate Prefecture and graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences, Osaka City University. He joined the Osaka City Museum, the predecessor of the Osaka Museum of History, in 1986 as a curator specializing in history. Following the grand opening of the Osaka Museum of History in 2001, he took on various leadership roles including the head of the Planning and Public Relations Division and the Curatorial Division. He was eventually appointed as the museum director in 2020. Since 2023, he has also been actively involved as a project leader, promoting content creation and promotion to invigorate the OSAKA-HAKU. He enjoys exploring the streets of Osaka. The author’s primary works include “戦国織豊期大阪の都市史的研究” (SHIBUNKAKU, 2019)

Through the OSAKA-HAKU, we believe that more people will be interested in visiting Osaka’s museums, which will invigorate Osaka. Each piece of art and piece of data housed in each institution has its own story and background, and has the power to illuminate contemporary society, including the relationships between people, people and nature, and people and science. This will provide us with clues and hints as we seek a truly rich society through the Expo. We will create various initiatives to help people discover the appeal and excitement of works of art at museums, and to find a foothold for the future. Please look forward to our future activities.
