We believe that in Osaka — a city of laughter — presenting the unparalleled classical comedy of Rakugo to foreign tourists offers a valuable opportunity to share Osaka’s culture of humor and to show that Japanese people, often seen as serious and not given to joking, have long possessed rich wit and imagination. Taking advantage of the Expo as a gathering of people from around the world, we will promote Kamigata rakugo — Osaka’s comedic art and cultural asset — to a global audience.
