Director, Shimakaze Co., Ltd.

KIMURA Miho

She is from Suminoe Ward, Osaka City, born in 1974. While working in trade, she developed a desire to have shops sell products her company made, and opened a store in Bellroad Nakaginza Shopping Street, her hometown and the home of Shimakaze Co., Ltd.’s representative. In October 2024 she participated in the “EXPO Ikuno Heat Up Project” Halloween event. Through that experience her desire to promote the shopping street’s charms grew stronger, and she is now active in sharing Bellroad Nakaginza’s Showa‑era retro appeal with Japan and the world to preserve the best of the past. Through these activities she has also begun initiatives aligned with the SDGs.

In recent years, usage of the shopping street has continued to decline year after year. Now, however, Kansai faces a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity with EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, marking a major turning point for regional revitalization. With the mindset of “turning a crisis into an opportunity,” we aim to energize the shopping street and promote Japan’s food, culture, and Showa‑era retro streetscapes to overseas audiences via social media and other channels. As the first step, we are launching TASOGARE YOICHI (Twilight Night Market) in Ikuno Ward.
