Mayor of Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City

FUJIOKA Keiko

Born in Sakai City, Osaka. After graduating from Osaka University with a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering (architecture), she joined a construction company. After the Equal Employment Opportunity Law came into effect, she was promoted to a career-track position in accordance with the company’s revised system and joined the Architectural Design Department. Since then, she has been involved in numerous architectural and urban development projects, and has received numerous awards for architectural and urban development projects sponsored by third parties. In 2008, she received the “Osaka Sakuyahime Commendation,” an award sponsored by the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Participates in the “Expo Sakuyahime Conference” and “Osaka Sakuyahime SDGs Study Group,” a voluntary organization established by volunteers who received the award, and conducts urban development activities. She completed her master’s degree in Comparative Organizational Network Studies (Master of Social Design) at the Graduate School of 21st Century Social Design, Rikkyo University, in 2021. In April 2023, she became the Mayor of Miyakojima Ward.

The “Miyakojima Future EXPO” to be held in Miyakojima Ward is an effort to build momentum for the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai as well as to create a town for the future of Miyakojima Ward on the occasion of the Expo. By utilizing local resources and holding events and activities together with local residents, local businesses, and shopping districts, we hope to create a town where people can connect with each other and with the town and realize a variety of happiness. In the “Osaka Week” of the Expo, Miyakojima Ward residents will exhibit their projects in the town. We would like to bring the excitement of Miyako-jima Ward to the Expo site by exhibiting some of the projects we are working on.
