Urban Development Department, Osaka Prefectural Government
Born in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, he joined the Osaka Prefectural Government in 1996. In 2021, he was involved as an architectural lead in developing the Basic Exhibition Plan for the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Since April 2023, he has held his current position. His work includes initiatives to create attractive urban landscapes—such as the “The Photogenic Osaka Project”—as well as efforts to promote accessibility, energy efficiency, and decarbonization in architecture. Through these activities, he is committed to enhancing the quality and appeal of Osaka’s built environment.
Osaka is home not only to its iconic, well-known landscapes, but also to many lesser-known yet stunning views—hidden gems that shine when polished, as well as everyday scenes that bring a sense of calm and comfort. These rich and diverse scenic assets form the foundation of “The Photogenic Osaka Project.” Through this project, 26 local governments and private organizations are working together on more than 100 initiatives. Collaborative efforts between participating groups and cooperation from businesses are helping to create high-quality experiences for residents and visitors alike. Taking advantage of the upcoming Expo, the project aims to showcase the beauty of Osaka’s landscapes to a wider audience, deepen awareness and appreciation for the value of urban scenery, and inspire people to fall even more in love with Osaka.
